PRSVR: New Addition to the Beverly Center!

Brandon and Margaret Williamson of PRSVR, a luxury lifestyle brand is moving into the Beverly Center, in Los Angeles, California in 2019. This is definitely an elevated move and a well executed one.

Almost 7 or so years ago, I was introduced to their brand and I have witnessed them remain true to hard work, determination and culture inclusivity. They have consistently designed exceptionally well, broken down barriers, obtained celebrity placements, increased their clientele base, had pop-up shops/boutiques in major cities across the U.S. (including Chicago, Atlanta, Indianapolis and more) and have even had one of their products featured in a Super Bowl ad.

PRSVR is a brand constantly on the rise. See below for a snapshot of additional companies the brand will be alongside in the Beverly Center.

In my opinion, the Beverly Center was in need of an upgrade and the PRSVR Boutique will be a valuable addition.

New Looks From Eve!!

Apuje Kalu, fashion stylist and creative director; posted some of his fave out takes of Eve from a recent shoot for creators of color. Creators of Color is an art movement highlighting diversity in the creative sphere. For more info on this check out @creatorsofcolor on Instagram.

Now back to Eve - doesn't she look great! Wouldn't it be nice to see Eve back in her own show again? The show was witty and highlighted relationships and diversity.

Eve's styling in these photos compliments her assets and the colors and backgrounds chosen are appealing to the eye.

Enjoy! And drop a line in the comments.

Women’s Rights in Sports!

Skylar Diggins is becoming more and more vocal about gender inequality in sports, specifically the salary differences in the two national basketball leagues of the NBA vs. WNBA. Not only do NBA refs make more than a WNBA player, the 12th man on an NBA team has a higher salary than an entire WNBA team.

Be careful not to sum up the argument to the fact that women in sports just want to be paid more, it's more about being treated fairly across the board (travel, jersey/product revenue, etc) for the performance that they put in. And fair treatment should be a part of the process. It's very unfortunate that fairness and equality are not guaranteed but have to be bargained for.

But Skylar is up for the fight. She is coordinating meetings with other female athletes to share and gather information as preparation for developing talking points ahead of WNBA negotiations.

Remember the Serena Williams Naomi Osaka US Open tennis match where Serena was penalized for what some would say were "normal" tennis match behaviors? Immediately afterward in the post match interviews she discussed gender biases in tennis and how she has a responsibility to speak up about them and bring them to the forefront.

Injustice to women anywhere, is an injustice to women everywhere.

The Confidence of Youth!

This past Friday, I was able to watch a group of young ladies aged 6-14 display their talents, as part of a celebration for the last day of camp. These young ladies were amazingly confident. These young women gave it all they had. The skill level varied amongst them, but the one thing consistent through out was their confidence and sense of self.

con·fi·dence - a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities.

Interestingly enough, every single one of the girls that participated in a group performance showed a determination and rigor that should be commended.

Only when the groups relegated down to solo acts did a small dose of shyness, become detectable. In the shadow of shyness, determination and fearlessness still reigned supreme.

The confidence that I saw exuding from the girls on Friday, was admirable. And the youngest children in the groups seemed to be the bravest of all. Confidence is a trait that often times, fades away as you age and gain more exposure to life. Although, we should make sure that our daughters and sons are confident as they go out into the world daily.

Build, nurture and help the people in your life maintain a confidence that is unwavering. A great place to find examples of strong confidence is in the innocence of the youth of today.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr!

As we celebrate the life of an important soul today, Notable Styles and More (NSM) wanted to post the work of Daniel Rerala.

There are several articles written on this site depicting the life and the importance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, if you prefer a biography style post feel free to read previous articles.

In 2018 the question remains how can we utilize history as a resource and integrate it with examples, messages, circumstances and experiences from recent times.

The images below do an excellent job of relating the words of Dr. King to the atrocities of current times. Thank you Daniel Rerala and Amanda Seales @amandaseales for posting it.

Notable Styles and More Legacy

Today, Notable Styles and More would like to celebrate Bernice King as a legacy figure. The youngest child of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and Coretta Scott King (who was the mere age of five years old when her father was assassinated) is established in her own right. Miss King is currently a minister and CEO of the King Center.

Miss King had her first United Nations speaking engagement when she was 17. Bernice has also participated in non violent demonstrations and is still active within the community of Atlanta, GA where she resides. She was elected as the first female president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 2009 but due to differences she declined the role.

Months later King became CEO of the King Center. King's focus as CEO is to ensure that the nonviolent philosophy and methodology (Nonviolence 365) is integrated into various areas of society including: education, government, business, media, arts and entertainment and sports. King is also the CEO of First Kingdom Management, a Christian consulting firm based in Atlanta, Georgia.

Bernice King was recently spotted on an episode of Jermaine Dupri’s (So So Def) Rap Game where she can be seen encouraging the contestants to be mindful in their choices of lyrics and to stay motivated and determined. This woman is an strong example of legacy representation.

We wish her the best and offer our continued support in her future endeavors.

Ready Jet Go!

Notable Styles and More Legacy

Notable Styles and More is starting something nuevo with a series of posts that will reflect on a legacy!

Not that we particularly planned it this way ;) ;) 😉😉, but the initial post will showcase King Combs, birth name Christian Combs none other than Sean Diddy Combs' youngest son.

King Combs almost looks identical to his father and is following in the footsteps of his father with his efforts to pursue the music (on Bad Boy's label) and fashion business.

King Combs music can be found on TIDAL and other music outlets as well as visuals and interviews can be watched on REVOLT.

Watch out for more fashion influence from this young man, as he recently was featured in an ad for Dolce & Gabbana and walked in fashion shows in the Spring/Summer 2018 NYFW season.

Read further for more on King Combs and to view images.
